Investigations
Find out here what tests we can perform during your consultation at Doktershuis Antverpia.

Cardiology
At Doktershuis Antverpia, we carry out various tests to assess your heart health. Which tests we do depends on your symptoms and risk factors. We always choose a customised approach, with an eye for your comfort and safety. Are you unsure whether your symptoms need to be investigated? We will be happy to help you further.

Anamnesis
During the medical history, the doctor asks specific questions about your symptoms, medical history, medication and any conditions in your family. This gives us a complete picture of your health situation and allows us to examine and treat you in a more targeted way.
Clinical research
The clinical examination is a physical examination in which the doctor examines you using standard medical techniques such as inspection, auscultation (listening), palpation (feeling) and percussion (tapping). This helps recognise abnormalities and assess your general health.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An ECG measures the electrical activity of the heart. It is a simple and painless test that allows detection of cardiac arrhythmias or abnormalities in cardiac conduction. The ECG also helps detect other heart problems such as oxygen deprivation or scarring after a heart attack.
Holter monitoring
In Holter studies, you wear a small device that continuously records your heart rhythm for 24 to 48 hours. This allows us to detect cardiac arrhythmias that may not be visible on a standard ECG. This method provides a realistic picture of your heart activity during your daily activities.
Cycling test
The cycling test, also called exercise test, examines how your heart responds during gradual physical strain. Among other things, we measure heart rhythm, blood pressure and any symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath. For example, we can detect oxygen deficiency or arrhythmias under exertion.
Echocardiography
With echocardiography, we make an image of the heart via sound waves. This is how we map the heart muscle, valves and pumping function. This technique is essential for detecting structural heart problems and monitoring the effect of treatment.
Blood pressure monitoring
In 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, we wear a portable meter that automatically records your blood pressure throughout an entire day and night. This gives us an accurate picture of your blood pressure in your daily life and allows us to better assess whether and what treatment is needed.
Lab tests
Blood and urine samples provide valuable information about your general health. Among other things, we examine kidney function, cholesterol, sugar levels, thyroid function, inflammation levels and hormones. These data help us detect abnormalities in time and initiate appropriate treatment.

Gastroenterology
At Doktershuis Antverpia, we carry out various examinations to detect gastrointestinal disorders. Depending on your complaints and risk factors, we choose a tailor-made approach, paying attention to comfort and safety. Thinking of complaints such as abdominal pain, reflux, diarrhoea or blood in the stool? Our gastroenterologists are at your service.

Anamnesis
During the intake interview, the doctor questions you specifically about complaints, medical history, medication use and hereditary conditions. This gives us a complete picture of your health situation and allows us to investigate further in a targeted way.
Clinical research
The doctor will perform a physical examination to get an idea of your general health and possible abnormalities. This forms the basis for determining which additional tests are appropriate.
Lab tests
Through blood and urine samples, we gain insight into various parameters such as liver function, inflammation levels, blood count, sugar levels, thyroid function and - if necessary - hormones or specific antibodies. This helps to detect underlying disorders early.
Echo Abdomen
With abdominal ultrasound, we visualise the organs in the abdominal cavity, such as liver, gallbladder, kidneys, bladder, spleen and pancreas. This allows us to detect cysts, stones or inflammation, among other things.
Coloscopy
During a colonoscopy, the doctor looks at the entire course of the colon (and sometimes part of the small intestine) through an endoscope. This allows abnormalities such as polyps, inflammation or bleeding to be detected in time and treated if necessary.
Gastroscopy
With a gastroscopy, the doctor examines the oesophagus, stomach and the beginning of the small intestine through a thin camera. This examination is useful for complaints such as reflux, stomach pain or nausea. If necessary, biopsies can be taken immediately, for example to detect celiac disease or a Helicobacter pylori infection.

Gynaecology
At Doctor's House Antverpia, you can get advice, examination and treatment for a variety of gynaecological complaints. Whether it concerns menstrual problems, contraception, STDs, fertility or menopause: we offer tailor-made care, with an eye for your comfort. During a consultation, we can perform additional tests, such as a smear or ultrasound, if necessary. Our gynaecologists guide you with expertise and personal attention.

Anamnesis
During the first consultation, the doctor listens to your symptoms and asks specific questions about your medical history, medication use and any hereditary conditions. This will give us a full picture of your health and allow us to schedule the appropriate tests.

Clinical research
During the physical examination, the doctor will assess your general health and any abnormalities. This forms the basis for determining what further investigations are needed.

Lab tests
Through blood or urine samples, we measure important health parameters, such as hormone levels, iron levels, thyroid function and inflammation markers. This helps detect underlying problems or follow up treatments.

Ultrasound
A gynaecological ultrasound images the uterus, ovaries and surrounding structures. This is done through an external (abdominal) or internal (vaginal) ultrasound, depending on the situation.

Speculum examination
In this examination, the doctor views the vagina and cervix using a speculum. It is a simple and short procedure, often performed during a check-up or for specific symptoms.

Rectovaginal examination
With this examination, the doctor assesses both vagina and rectum to check, for example, the pelvic floor or surrounding structures. It is done with care and attention to comfort and discretion.

Holter monitoring
Clinical examination is a medical evaluation in which a doctor assesses a patient's health through physical examination, tests and a medical interview. The aim is to detect possible conditions and make a diagnosis.

Exercise test
An ECG (electrocardiogram) is a medical test that measures the electrical activity of the heart. It is used to assess heart function, detect arrhythmias and diagnose other heart-related problems. The ECG records the electrical signals passing through the heart, which can help identify abnormalities in the rhythm or function of the heart.

Are you thinking of complaints such as leg pain, varicose veins or risk factors for stenosis or aneurysms? Our vascular surgeons are ready to advise, screen and treat you.

Anamnesis
During the initial consultation, the doctor questions your symptoms, medical history, medication use and any family risk factors. This helps to get a clear picture of your vascular care needs and plan the appropriate investigations.

Clinical research
The doctor performs a physical examination to evaluate your general health and the condition of your blood vessels. This is often done in combination with targeted tests and forms the basis for further diagnosis.
Duplex survey
In a duplex examination, we combine ultrasound with a measurement of blood flow in blood vessels. This allows us to detect narrowing, occlusion or dilation of arteries and veins in time. The examination is painless and is done on the neck, abdomen, legs or arms, among others.

Sclerosing
Sclerosing is a treatment for superficial varicose veins. A fine needle is used to inject a special fluid into the vein, causing it to contract and gradually disappear. This is an effective and low-impact technique.

Neurology
At Doktershuis Antverpia, our neurologists focus on disorders of the nervous system, such as headaches, dizziness, memory problems or sleep problems. During a consultation, we perform a thorough neurological examination, possibly complemented by targeted tests. We aim for early detection of conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's or stroke. You will always be guided with care and expertise.

Anamnesis
The doctor questions your symptoms, medical history, medication and family burden. This conversation forms the basis for a targeted neurological examination.

Clinical research
The doctor examines your nervous system through tests for muscle strength, reflexes, coordination and sensation. This helps detect neurological abnormalities and make an accurate diagnosis.

Laboratory research
Through blood or urine tests, we chart parameters such as inflammatory levels, vitamins, thyroid function and immunological markers. This can help detect or rule out certain neurological causes.

EEG
This test measures the brain's electrical activity via electrodes on the skull. It is used in epilepsy, disorders of consciousness or sleep.

EMG
Fine needles and light current pulses are used to assess muscle and nerve function. This test is useful for muscle weakness, tingling or radiating pain.

NKO
At Doktershuis Antverpia, you can visit our nose-throat-ear doctors for a thorough screening of the upper respiratory tract. During the examination, we look at the nose, throat and vocal cords with a flexible endoscope and also check your hearing. This is done in a comfortable and safe way, often as part of a medical check-up. This way, we detect possible problems early.

Anamnesis
During the first interview, the NKO doctor questions your symptoms, medical history, medication use and family burden. This will give us a full picture of your situation and allow us to investigate further in a targeted way.

Clinical research
The doctor examines the nose, throat and ears through inspection, palpation and listening. This is often combined with functional tests, such as a throat reflex test or nasal breathing test. The aim is to detect structural or functional abnormalities.

Audiometry
With this hearing test, we objectively measure how well you perceive sounds of different pitches and volumes. Through headphones, we listen to tones at different frequencies. This allows us to evaluate hearing loss, tinnitus or other hearing problems.

Tympanometry
In tympanometry, we measure eardrum mobility and pressure in the middle ear. This examination is useful in cases of recurrent ear infections, fluid behind the eardrum or hearing loss.

Scopies
Through a flexible or rigid endoscope, the NKO doctor visualises the inside of the nose, throat or vocal cords. This allows us to detect, for example, nasal polyps, voice problems or structural abnormalities. The examination is usually short and is done after local anaesthesia.

Through blood and urine samples, we can measure important parameters such as kidney function, electrolytes, inflammation levels, PSA (prostate marker) or hormonal balance. These analyses give us valuable information for diagnosis and follow-up.

Ultrasounds
With ultrasound, we image the bladder, kidneys, prostate and testicles, among other things. This technique is painless and safe and helps detect kidney stones, urinary tract obstruction or prostate enlargement, for example.

Uroflow
In uroflowmetry, a device measures the force and course of the urine stream. This simple and painless examination shows whether there is any obstruction or impaired bladder function.

Pneumology
The pneumologist specialises in disorders of the lungs and airways. During this consultation, complaints such as shortness of breath, persistent cough, asthma, chronic bronchitis or sleep apnoea are examined. Additional investigations, such as a pulmonary function test or imaging, may be done to establish a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Anamnesis
During the medical history, the doctor will ask specific questions about your respiratory symptoms, such as shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing or fatigue. Medical history, smoking habits, allergies and family history are also discussed. This gives the doctor a complete picture of your lung health in order to start targeted further investigations or treatment.

Clinical research
The physical examination helps the pneumologist detect signs of respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD or infections. Among other things, the doctor listens to your lungs with a stethoscope and assesses your general condition. If necessary, additional tests will follow to refine the diagnosis.

Pulmonary function tests
Lung function tests provide insight into how well your lungs are working. Through measurements such as spirometry and body plethysmography, lung volume, airflow and gas exchange are evaluated. These tests help diagnose and monitor conditions such as asthma, COPD or restrictive lung disease.

Rx thorax
An RX thorax, or chest radiography, is a simple and quick imaging technique that allows doctors to get a clear view of the lungs, heart and surrounding structures.

Radiology
A radiology consultation involves medical imaging studies such as RX (radiography), ultrasound or CT scans. These images help doctors assess internal structures and organs. Radiology helps detect fractures, inflammation, tumours and other abnormalities.

Mammography
A mammogram is an X-ray examination of the breasts that allows us to detect abnormalities, such as lumps or incipient breast cancer, early. It is an important part of preventive breast health care.

Bone densitometry
A bone densitometry, also known as a DEXA scan, measures the amount of mineral in your bones. This allows us to determine whether your bones are strong enough or weakened, and estimate the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

Dermatoscan
A dermatoscan is a medical procedure used to examine and analyse the skin, especially for detecting skin cancer, such as melanoma, and other skin abnormalities. It is a non-invasive technology often used by dermatologists to monitor suspicious moles or skin changes.
Duplex survey
A duplex examination is a combination of ultrasound and measurement of blood flow in blood vessels. With it, we visualise arteries and veins, such as those in the neck, abdomen, legs or arms. This examination helps early detection and monitoring of narrowing, occlusion or dilation of blood vessels.

Ultrasounds
At Doctor's House Antverpia, we perform various ultrasounds to image the kidneys, bladder and prostate. These examinations use sound waves to safely and painlessly gather information about your urinary tract and genitals, without radiation exposure.

Ophthalmology
The ophthalmologist (ophthalmologist) examines and treats disorders of the eyes. During this consultation, complaints such as blurred vision, eye pain, redness, watering eyes or impaired vision are checked.
