Eye examinations

Eye exams are medical tests that assess the health and function of your eyes. They are an important part of the detection and follow-up of eye complaints or conditions. The goal? In case of complaints such as blurred vision, double vision, flashes of light, spots, redness, itching or pain in the eyes - or in case of risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, medication use or glaucoma in the family - an eye examination may be indicated. During the consultation, we perform several measurements, such as a vision measurement to assess your vision and a refractive examination to identify abnormalities such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. We also measure eye pressure to evaluate the risk of glaucoma. With a slit-lamp examination, we look in detail at the anterior structures of the eye, such as the cornea and lens. In addition, we perform a fundus examination to assess the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels, possibly after pupil dilation. Pupil reactions, eye movements and coordination are also examined, especially in neurological or muscle-related complaints. These examinations help detect abnormalities in time and initiate appropriate treatment.
