Eye consultation

The ophthalmologist (ophthalmologist) examines and treats disorders of the eyes. During this consultation, complaints such as blurred vision, eye pain, redness, watering eyes or impaired vision are checked. Eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts or retinal problems can also be detected. A comprehensive eye examination is done with specialised equipment.

When is an eye consultation needed?

Are you experiencing changes in your vision, such as blurred vision, sore or red eyes, or seeing spots or flashes of light? A consultation with an ophthalmologist can help evaluate these symptoms and initiate appropriate treatment. Regular eye checks are essential to detect eye conditions early and prevent serious complications, such as:

Cataracts - A gradual clouding of the lens of the eye leading to blurred vision and reduced contrast. Glaucoma - Increased eye pressure that damages the optic nerve and can lead to permanent vision loss without treatment. Macular degeneration - Impairment of the central part of the retina, resulting in reduced central vision. Retinal detachment - Symptoms such as sudden flashes of light, floating spots or a shadow in the visual field may indicate a retinal detachment, a medical emergency. Eye infections or inflammations - Red, sore eyes with discharge may indicate an infection that requires medical treatment. Double vision or squinting - Problems with the eye muscles or nerves can lead to double vision or eye position abnormalities.

Keep your vision sharp, get your eyes checked

Many eye diseases develop gradually and often go unnoticed at first. However, they can be treated well at an early stage - provided they are detected in time. Regular eye examinations are therefore very important, especially for risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, hereditary eye diseases or an age over 40.Preventive checks at the ophthalmologist help detect conditions early and significantly reduce the risk of permanent damage or vision loss.

How does an ophthalmology consultation take place?

1. Intake & Anamnesis

An eye consultation starts with an intake interview. The ophthalmologist asks questions about your symptoms, vision changes, medical history, any eye problems in the family and medication use. This way, we get a full picture of your general and visual health.

2. Eye examinations

Based on the complaints, the doctor performs a series of clinical and technical eye examinations. These may include an eye pressure measurement, visual acuity test, retinal examination or OCT scan. These examinations help detect conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts or retinal problems.

3. Discussion & Advice

After the examination, the ophthalmologist discusses the results with you. If necessary, a diagnosis is made and a treatment proposal made - for example, medication, a follow-up examination or referral for surgery. The medical report becomes available via your eHealth or CoZo file.
