Dr Philippe Albertyn
After 12 years of training with the Jesuits at Frankrijklei, he began his medical studies at LUC Hasselt. In 1993, he received his doctorate in medicine, surgery and obstetrics from KU Leuven. He followed most of his specialisation in gynaecology at AZ St Augustine, a service known for its strong surgical training. He spent the final year at the University Hospital of Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, with a particular focus on the follow-up of high-risk pregnancies. In 1998, he started as a gynaecologist at St Camillus-St Augustinus Hospital in Wilrijk, in association with Dr Georges Albertyn and Dr Eelen. Shortly afterwards, he also joined Dr Segal in the fertility clinic of St Augustinus as a fertility specialist. He combined these two activities until 2008. With the growth of his private practice, combining the two roles eventually became untenable, and a reorientation became imperative. Since then, he chose to fully devote himself to his specialisations within gynaecology and obstetrics. He looks forward to actively sharing his experience and expertise with younger colleagues within the association.
